TORONTO — Chelsea Hotel put a chic bow on its transformation yesterday, capping four years of work and rejuvenation with a sleek new-look logo and new branding, unveiled at an afternoon reception for industry friends and partners.
The downtown property has been completely revitalized over the multi-year project, with all rooms and public spaces renovated. Most notably, the stylish and UK-inspired new F&B venue The Elm Tavern, open since this past spring, has made the Chelsea Toronto’s main floor almost unrecognizeable (in a positive way) for long-time fans of the hotel, which celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2025.

Chelsea Toronto, Canada’s largest hotel, now sports the new-look logo
While all this work has been reported on over the past few years, yesterday marked the official debut – and an end to the construction, no doubt making the team very happy.
“This is the end of our big project, and the beginning of our next chapter. Welcome to the new Chelsea Toronto,” said Managing Director, Shane Downey, to a round of applause.
The $85 million reno reflects a clearer expression of the experience Chelsea has delivered for generations, Downey added.
“Our goal was not to reinvent Chelsea. It was to understand what people already valued, determine what needed to evolve and carry the best of Chelsea forward,” he said.

The renewed branding, featuring an understated lower-case ‘c’ and ‘h’, and the hotel’s refreshed messaging, was in part grounded in research with more than 15,000 guests, and shaped by input from colleagues and partners. The unifying purpose for the hotel: bringing people and the city together. Located just off Yonge Street and steps from the CF Toronto Eaton Centre, Sankofa Square and many more attractions, the property is an icon in Toronto’s hospitality industry. It’s also Canada’s largest hotel.
“Chelsea has always meant different things to different people, and that is one of our greatest strengths,” said Downey. “Our renewed brand gives us a clearer way to express what guests already value: the warmth of our people, the energy of Toronto and the flexibility to make each stay feel personal. This is an evolution of Chelsea, rooted in who we are and designed for where we are going.”

Refreshed accommodation at Chelsea Toronto
In 2013 Langham Hospitality Group took over management for Chelsea Hotel. The company’s loyalty program, Brilliant by Langham, comes with preferred room rates at Langham Hotels worldwide, room benefits, points and more.
Christopher Ashby, Director, Commercial Operations, said Chelsea Toronto’s brand journey unveiled yesterday came at the end “of an extraordinary physical transformation.”

Kid-friendly family space The Hive
Said Ashby: “We renovated 1,588 guest rooms. We changed our arrival and public spaces through a reimagining of those areas. We introduced Elm Street Bar & Lounge, T Bar and created The Hive — my favourite spot in the entire hotel for families — as well as The Heights for adults. Through all of that, we strengthened how guests meet, dine, play, recharge and spend time together.”
