Virgin Voyages announces the name of its second ship, coming May 2021

MIAMI — A second ship is coming to Virgin Voyages’ fleet in May 2021, just one year following the highly anticipated debut of the Scarlet Lady in April 2020.

Called ‘Valiant Lady’, the new ship will sail seven-night Mediterranean itineraries out of Barcelona after its official launch. Bookings for its three feature itineraries, all of which include overnight and late-night stops in France, Italy and Spain, will open on Dec. 19, 2019.

“We are thrilled to unveil the name of our second ship – Valiant Lady – and to deliver on our commitment to offer travellers a sea change in how they experience cruising in this fantastic part of the world,” said Tom McAlpin, CEO of Virgin Voyages. “Our Sailors will fall in love with the places we go and the moments and memories they will be able to create on our gorgeous ship. After all, there is no better way to sail the seven seas than doing it the Virgin Way.”

Valiant Lady’s three itineraries are as follows:

• Itinerary 1: Barcelona, Ibiza, Monte Carlo, Marseille and Olbia
• Itinerary 2: Barcelona, Ibiza, Toulon, Ajaccio, Marina di Carrara and Cagliari
• Itinerary 3: Barcelona, Ibiza, Palma de Mallorca, Malaga and Gibraltar

When departing Barcelona, the ship will dock just steps from Las Ramblas at the World Trade Center Barcelona, which is usually reserved by luxury liners and mega-yachts for its close proximity to the city’s core neighbourhoods, including Poble Sec, el Raval and Barri Gotic. Plus, having heard from its customers and travel partners, Virgin has delivered later stays in ports on every itinerary, giving passengers the chance to make the most of their time in port. Every sailing also features a Friday overnight stay in Ibiza.

Inspired by the Latin word ‘valere’ and deriving from the French word ‘vaillant’, meaning ‘bold’ and ‘courageous’, Valiant Lady embodies the idea that women can design, captain, lead and champion change in the maritime industry. It will continue Virgin Voyages ‘Scarlet Squad’ program aimed at recruiting, supporting and mentoring female shipboard talent, and growing opportunities to access leadership roles in onboard areas such as marine, technical and hotel management.
