Sunwing Vacations named Bahamas ‘International Tour Operator of the Year’

TORONTO — Sunwing Vacations was named ‘International Tour Operator of the Year’ at the 16th annual Cacique Awards in Nassau.

The awards serve as an opportunity for the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism to pay tribute to both companies and individuals who have made significant contributions to the country’s tourism and hospitality industries.

Lawrence Elliott, Group Vice President of Business & Corporate Affairs, and Susan Oland, Director of Programme and Promotional Development, received the award from Paul Strachan, Director, Canada of the Bahamas Tourist Office and Ellison Thompson, Deputy Director General for the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism.

Elliott thanked the Bahamas Tourist Office for the award saying “we are delighted to be invited to the Bahamas to celebrate the successes of the country’s flourishing tourism industry. This is the first time that Sunwing Vacations received an accolade at this important event. Since we first started operating in the Bahamas in 2011 our program has grown significantly. With the introduction of flight services from Vancouver and Calgary to Grand Bahama this winter, we now offer direct connections to Grand Bahama from eight Canadian gateways in addition to our popular Nassau route”.
