CALGARY — WestJet has reportedly suspended three European routes for summer 2027.

According to airline consulting firm Ailevon Pacific, WestJet will not offer its Toronto – Glasgow route next summer. The seasonal YYZ-GLA route re-launched in May 2026 after a four-year hiatus. 

The two other suspended routes are out of Halifax, to Copenhagen and Madrid. 

Airlines continue to re-evaluate their networks to deploy aircraft where there is strongest demand and long-term sustainability, amid market volatility and high jet fuel prices. 

As reported yesterday, globally jet fuel averaged about US$99 a barrel on Feb. 27, the day before the war began, according to IATA’s Jet Fuel Price Monitor. Prices more than doubled to US$209 by early April, fell for nearly three months and reached US$195 a barrel in mid-September following their renewed ascent, said IATA.
