WestJet rolls out TravelX platform to boost capacity and revenue management

CALGARY — WestJet has implemented a new post-booking inventory management platform designed to improve capacity management on high-demand flights while giving guests more flexibility after booking.

The Calgary-based airline has deployed TravelX’s RmX solution, which allows WestJet to move beyond static inventory management and respond more dynamically to changes in demand between the time a booking is made and departure.

According to the companies, the technology will allow WestJet to release and remarket inventory on flights experiencing strong demand, creating additional revenue opportunities while giving eligible guests more options during their travel journey.

“The implementation of RmX will enhance capacity management and unlock further revenue optimization opportunities on high-demand flights, while providing guests with more choices throughout their travel journey,” said Jorge Rozo, WestJet’s Senior Vice-President, Revenue & Distribution.

The platform has been integrated alongside WestJet’s existing systems, allowing the airline to introduce post-booking inventory management capabilities without replacing its core infrastructure.

For WestJet’s revenue management team, the technology provides an additional layer of optimization after an initial ticket sale. It can identify flights where demand has increased, assess opportunities to move flexible guests and make newly released seats available for resale as demand develops closer to departure.

The implementation comes as WestJet continues to grow its network and look for new ways to maximize capacity across flights experiencing peak demand.

“We are incredibly proud to celebrate the successful rollout of our RmX platform at WestJet,” commented Brent Overbeek, Chief Commercial Officer at TravelX. “WestJet shares our belief that airline inventory should also be actively managed after the initial booking. Thanks to TravelX’s solution, WestJet is now able to tap into new commercial opportunities while giving them added flexibility as they scale to meet guest demand.”
