MONTREAL — Air Transat continues to keep its eyes open for new codeshare route possibilities with partner Turkish Airlines.
The Canadian Transportation Agency has issued Air Transat a license to operate, through codesharing, scheduled international service to Cambodia, and also to Iraq.
Airlines often apply to the CTA for licenses to operate or codeshare on routes that may not transpire for years, if at all. It’s a matter of options.
Turkish Airlines flies to multiple gateways in Iraq, and to Phnom Penh, Cambodia, from its IST hub.
Air Transat offers Istanbul out of Montreal and Toronto, connecting with TK’s hub with connections to over 350 destinations in more than 130 countries. Air Transat’s year-round Toronto-Istanbul flights launched in December 2025. Air Transat is also launching new nonstop year-round service between Montreal and Istanbul starting Oct. 29.
The interline and codeshare agreements between Air Transat and Turkish Airlines came into effect in fall 2025.
Air Transat’s other recent license approvals for codeshare flights with Turkish Airlines include Kenya as well as Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Thailand.
