MONTREAL — Air Transat has added another codeshare approval to its growing list, as the airline works to extend its codeshare network with partner Turkish Airlines.
The Canadian Transportation Agency has issued Air Transat a license to operate, through codesharing, scheduled international service to Kenya.
Airlines often apply to the CTA for licenses to operate or codeshare on routes that may not transpire for years, if at all. It’s a matter of keeping options open.
Last week came word that Air Transat got the nod for codeshare flights to Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Thailand. Yesterday there was a heads up that Air Transat is codesharing with TK on flights to Dubai.
Air Transat offers Istanbul out of Montreal and Toronto, connecting with partner Turkish Airlines’ IST hub with connections to over 350 destinations in more than 130 countries, including Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO) in Kenya. Air Transat’s year-round Toronto-Istanbul flights launched in December 2025. Air Transat is also launching new nonstop year-round service between Montreal and Istanbul starting Oct. 29.
The interline and codeshare agreements between Air Transat and Turkish Airlines came into effect in fall 2025.
