Air Canada removes seasonal YUL-ALG route from its schedule: report

TORONTO — Air Canada has reportedly removed its Montreal-Algiers service launch from its schedule.

The change was reported by Aeroroutes, which tracks worldwide airline schedule and network changes.

Air Canada’s seasonal YUL-ALG service was set to begin June 1. The 4x weekly flights were scheduled to run through Sept. 23.

Airlines worldwide, including many in Canada, are making capacity cuts and in some cases suspending routes amid concerns about jet fuel supply shortages and ongoing tensions in the Strait of Hormuz.

Last week came news that Air Canada is suspending service between Toronto and Yellowknife at the end of August, and between Fort McMurray and Vancouver in late May. To the U.S., Air Canada is suspending its YYZ-SLC effective June 30, with an eye to resuming the route next year. And internationally, Air Canada has called off its new nonstop service to Guadalajara out of of YUL, set to begin June 2.
