Seabourn opens bookings on Barbados sailings, cancels select Europe voyages

SEATTLE — Seabourn has joined a growing list of major cruise lines that are resuming operations to the Caribbean this summer.

Following recent announcements from Celebrity, Royal Caribbean and Crystal Cruises, Seabourn – together with the Government of Barbados – has unveiled plans to restart sailings on a second ship through a series of new summer voyages operating roundtrip out of Bridgetown, Barbados, beginning on July 18.

The brand previously announced plans to resume guest operations in Greece aboard the Seabourn Ovation starting July 3.

Seabourn Odyssey will operate seven-day cruises from Barbados to Southern Caribbean destinations, including ports of call in Antigua, the British Virgin Islands, Dominica, Grenada, St. Lucia, St. Maarten and St. Kitts. Sailings are already open for booking.

Guests can choose a 14-day options as well that combines the two seven-day itineraries between Windward and Leeward Islands in the Caribbean Sea. Itineraries for fall 2021 sailings include additional port calls in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Guadeloupe and Martinique.

Itinerary highlights include the ‘Caviar in the Surf’ at Carabola Beach, a perennial guest favourite that includes Seabourn team members wading through turquoise waters to serve chilled caviar and Champagne. The day also includes a lavish barbeque lunch featuring grilled lobster and fresh fruit, as well as a scheduled ‘Marina Day’ where staff treats guests to an afternoon of active watersports operated from a platform on the back of the ship.

The series of voyages is open to any guest who is fully vaccinated against COVID-19. ‘Fully vaccinated’ means a minimum of 14 days following the first or second dose (for those vaccines requiring two doses) of the currently approved COVID-19 vaccines being administered. Proof of vaccination and the dates given will be required. Approved forms of documentation will be confirmed closer to time of departure and must be shown at the terminal prior to boarding. Seabourn team members will also be vaccinated.

Additional health measures under Seabourn’s ‘Travel Safe’ program will also be in place, including health screening questionnaires, face mask requirements, physical distancing and capacity controls for indoor venues, and upgraded high-efficiency air filtration.

While Seabourn prepares for its upcoming season in the Caribbean, it has also been forced to cancel additional 2021 Europe departures aboard two of its ships due to the fact that it has not been able to obtain approval for all planned itineraries.

Impacted voyages include the Seabourn Sojourn, with departures through Sept. 25, 2021, and Seabourn Encore, with departures through Aug. 21, 2021.

Affected guests and their travel advisors will be sent specific details applicable to their booking. Seabourn is requesting them to use the online resources available on its website first rather than calling the Reservation Call Center for information about cancellations due to the possibility of high call volumes.
