TICO NOTICE ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

TICO announces Board updates at AGM

MISSISSAUGA — Following its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Sept. 17, TICO’s Board of Directors has renamed Jean Hébert as Chair as well as re-elected Scott Stewart as Vice-Chair.

Also announced at the AGM was the appointment of Doug Ellison of Ellison tours as the newest TICO Board member, who will serve a two-year term, as well as the departure of Marc Patry, whose three-year tenure as Board member has come to an end.

“TICO’s Board of Directors extends our heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Marc Patry for his service and are very pleased to welcome Doug Ellison into the fold,” said Richard Smart, TICO President and CEO. “We are confident that Doug’s decades of experience in the travel industry will contribute to a positive and productive tenure as TICO’s newest Board member.”

During the AGM, Smart announced an 11% decline in registrants as of March 31, 2020, for a total of 2,096, compared to the same time last year. To help agencies and wholesalers get through this difficult time, TICO has announced several initiatives in recent months, including fee deferrals.

The Hon. Minister Lisa Thompson, who also took part in the AGM via Zoom, reiterated the Ontario government’s commitment to the recovery of the travel industry, and promised “necessary actions to protect travel agencies and wholesalers.”

TICO’s AGM was held virtually on Zoom and live at the Corporate Event Centre in Mississauga. To watch a recording of the AGM click here.
