TORONTO — As travel restrictions continue to loosen in major Sun destinations, several more resort brands have announced reopening dates following months of temporary closures due to COVID-19.

The latest brands to reopen include Brisas Group in Mexico, Casa de Campo in the Dominican Republic, Four Seasons in Los Cabos, and Moon Palace in Jamaica, all of which have introduced added health and safety measures.

 

BRISAS GROUP

Mexico’s leading hospitality group has begun reopening its nine hotels and resorts across the country, with all properties expected to be fully operational by July 1.

The Brisas Group portfolio consists of two hotel collections: Las Brisas, the brand’s flagship resort collection with locations in Acapulco, Huatulco, Manzanillo, Ixtapa and Queretaro, and Galeria Plaza, a collection of business-centric hotels in major business centres such as Mexico City, Veracruz and Irapuato.

Safety measures have been implemented across the portfolio, including regular cleanings of all areas every two hours, temperature checks for all guests and employees upon arrival, disinfectant mats at each entrance to clean shoes prior to entering, the cleaning of menus before each use, the temporary removal of buffet service, and a mandatory six-foot distance between gym equipment and pool beds. CASA DE CAMPO RESORT & VILLAS

Casa de Campo Resort & Villas in La Romana, Dominican Republic is set to welcome back guests on July 1. During its closure, the resort completely refreshed rooms and facilities, and performed its annual golf course maintenance on its layouts including the legendary Teeth of the Dog and the Pete Dye-designed Dye Fore.

In preparation of its reopening, the resort developed its ‘Casa Cares’ health and safety program, which highlights new standards in safeguarding the well-being of guests. These include COVID-19 tests for all employees prior to returning to work, temperature checks for guests and staff, electrostatic sprayers to disinfect common areas and a safety kit provided to all guests that include a face mask, disinfectant wipes and sanitizing gel. FOUR SEASONS RESORT LOS CABOS AT COSTA PALMAS

Located 45 minutes from Los Cabos International Airport, the resort will reopen its doors to guests on June 26 with stringent health and safety procedures as part of its new ‘Lead With Care’ program. Grounded in health care expertise, the program sets out clear procedures for guests and employees, including:

  • Dedicated personnel to clean high-touch areas using EPA-approved products
  • Guestrooms will remain vacant for 24 hours in between guests where possible
  • Limited capacity in restaurants to allow for social distancing
  • QR codes to be utilized in restaurants in lieu of printed menus
  • PPE equipment for all employees
  • ‘Lead With Care’ kits featuring masks, hand sanitizer and sanitization wipes will be placed in each guestroom
  • Hand sanitizer stations at the front desk, Concierge stations, in restaurants and public spaces
  • Thermal screening tests upon check-in
  • Four Seasons App and Chat will be available to guests for real-time, contactless interactions with employees from their own device

MOON PALACE JAMAICA

After months of closure, Moon Palace Jamaica reopened its doors last week in Ocho Rios, welcoming its first guests back with a Jamaican marching band. A total of 109 check-ins were welcomed in the first week of reopening.

The resort’s brand new ‘Purely Palace’ program includes more than 140 preventative measures to assure the health and safety of guests and staff. These include a temperature checks upon arrival and a health certification in every room, guaranteeing its complete disinfection.

To entice bookings, Palace Resorts has launched a 2×1 promotion for summer travel to early fall. Guests booking their first room will get a second room of the same value for free.
