TDC reopens over 25 Transat Travel agencies

MONTREAL — As part of its gradual reopening of its travel agency network, Transat Distribution Canada (TDC) has announced that over two dozen of its Transat Travel agencies have opened their doors.

As of now, over 25 agencies in British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario and Quebec have reopened. TDC is currently awaiting the recommendation of government authorities to reopen its Transat Travel agencies in Toronto and Peel region in Ontario.

According to Louise Fecteau, General Manager of TDC, Transat has implemented the ‘Traveller Care’ program to ensure the health and safety of its employees and customers, rom completing their reservation within one of its agencies, all the way through to destination.

“As we have done many times before and particularly in the last few weeks, we have shared all the tools and processes we’ve adopted in our corporate agencies with our franchises, to make it easier for them,” she says. “They simply have to apply our recommendations to support their own operational needs.”

Fecteau adds that TDC has maintained its operations in all of its agencies in recent weeks, “but physically opening our doors sends an even stronger message to our customers that we are there and ready to serve them.”

She also commends all travel professionals for showing “exceptional dedication and professionalism” during this unprecedented period.

“Now more than ever, I remain convinced that more travellers will see the added value of planning their vacations with a consummate travel professional,” she says. “The travel professionals in our Transat Travel agencies are very much looking forward to welcoming customers and guide them in planning their vacation in a new environment that takes into account this new reality that we must all learn to live with.”

TDC’s reopening of agencies comes on the heels of Transat’s announcement that flights and tour activities will resume on July 23, 2020. Its new flight schedule, though reduced, will include 22 destinations in Europe, the South, the U.S. and Canada until Oct. 31, 2020.
