Lynx’s first U.S. flight takes off from Toronto

TORONTO — Just nine months after its launch, Lynx Air has officially crossed the border into the United States.

The new ultra-low-cost Canadian airline is celebrating its inaugural flight to the U.S. today, Jan. 27, from Toronto Pearson (YYZ) to Orlando International Airport (MCO). Four direct flights per week between the two destinations will fly onboard brand new Boeing 737 aircraft.

“Lynx Air took to the Canadian skies for the very first time just over nine months ago, and we are excited to be already expanding across the border into the USA,” said Merren McArthur, CEO of Lynx. “The choice of Orlando as our first U.S. destination as easy – it is a very popular holiday spot for Canadians with its famous theme parks, world-class golf and great weather, of course.

“We are thrilled to offer an ultra-affordable option to travel between Toronto and Orlando. Whether you are travelling for a holiday in sunny Florida or to visit family and friends, Lynx will ensure a great flying experience at an ultra-affordable price.”

The airline first announced its first U.S. flights back in September 2023, adding Orlando, Phoenix, Los Angeles and Las Vegas to its network. Service from Calgary to Phoenix (3x weekly) will launch Feb. 7, 2023, Los Angeles (3x weekly) on Feb. 16, 2023, and Las Vegas (4x weekly) on Feb. 24, 2023. In total, Lynx will be operating over 5,000 seats to and from the United States.

Lynx Air celebrated its official launch in Canada in April 2022.
