Tourism Ireland to host in-person Canadian sales mission this week

TORONTO — Tourism Ireland is back – in person – with a cross-Canada sales mission that will give travel agents a complete overview of what’s new on the island.

The tourist board, which hasn’t hosted in-person events since the start of the pandemic in February 2020, will visit Toronto, Calgary, Vancouver and Victoria this week with a delegation of 15 tourism enterprises from Ireland and three Canadian partners. Over 300 travel agents are expected to attend across the country.

The events will help agents sell Ireland by targeting key consumer passion points: adventure and experiences, ‘craic’ and culture, history and heritage, and luxury travel. Industry experts across Ireland will host panel discussions, plus partners will connect with travel and lifestyle media and influencers at two additional events while in Toronto and Vancouver.

“We are very excited to be back in action during this important series of events this week after two-year break from being able to connect with the travel trade in person,” said Sandra Moffatt, Manager, Tourism Ireland, Canada. “Canadian holidaymakers are highly valued, and our aim is to continue to rebuild visitor numbers from Canada with our extensive program of high impact campaigns and promotions.”

Moffatt added that the sales mission provides an “excellent platform to meet with and educate agents,” as well as kickstart Tourism Ireland’s promotional efforts that highlight Ireland’s offerings and famous hospitality.

“Ireland is open for business and we cannot wait to welcome Canadians back to the Emerald Isle. We are looking forward to getting out to meet the travel trade this week and thank them for helping to play such an important role in helping us to drive visitor numbers to Ireland,” said Moffatt.

Ireland currently has no travel restrictions in place. The country has also restored 96% of its 2019 air access from Canada. In 2019, Ireland welcomed nearly 11.2 million overseas visitors, resulting in revenue of almost €5.8 billion.
