Scenic Eclipse set to resume Antarctica season

VANCOUVER — Scenic Eclipse is making its way back to Antarctica to resume its scheduled 2022 sailing program for the first time since the start of the pandemic.

As one of the first ships to return to the region, Scenic Eclipse, the World’s First Discovery Yacht, will operate several scheduled 13- and 19-day sailings in Antarctica this year. When the season comes to a close in March, the ship will then venture across the Atlantic, sailing from Rio de Janeiro to Lisbon, to commence its first-ever Mediterranean season.

To entice clients to book a last-minute 2021/2022 Antarctica voyage on Scenic Eclipse, Scenic is offering free Business Class Air, or $2,500 per person savings plus up to 20% fare savings if the cruise is paid in full at the time of booking. This offer is good on all sailings for this shortened season.

“We’ve been planning this Antarctica season for months and we can’t wait to head back to the White Continent for a season of luxury and discovery,” says Jason Flesher, Scenic Discovery Yachts’ expedition operations manager. “Thanks to the size and capabilities of Scenic Eclipse, we’ve been able to secure exclusive landings in Margarite Bay, a southern destination that very few ships can visit.”

All Scenic Eclipse voyages are truly all-inclusive, and include return flights, transfers, up to 10 fine dining experiences, premium branded beverages and immersive excursions. All new bookings are covered by Scenic’s Flexible Booking Policy, allowing guests to defer their cruise to another travel date or itinerary up to 60 days prior to departure and come with Scenic’s Deposit Protection Plan.

  • Antarctica in Depth’ (13 days): This voyage takes guests along the Antarctica Peninsula, just above the Antarctic Circle. Highlights include traversing the 11-kilometre-long Lemaire Channel, visiting a working scientific base, exploring the remnants of a derelict whaling station, taking Zodiacs around ice formations and kayaking or stand-up paddleboarding around icebergs. Fares start at $22,927 per person, double.
  • Antarctica & South Georgia’ (19 days): This option adds five days to the Antarctica itinerary and explores the wildlife-filled island of South Georgia. Guests can also be among the first to explore South Georgie Island via submarine underwater. Prices for this sailing on March 10, which departs from Ushuaia and returns to Rio de Janeiro, start at $29,526.
