MIAMI — There’s an app for everything these days, from ordering groceries to learning a new language. But how many are designed to call up a glass of bubbly out of nowhere?
Leave it to Virgin Voyages to come up with the idea, which is set to debut onboard the Scarlet Lady in April 2020. Called ‘Shake for Champagne’, the exclusive on-demand champagne delivery service is a feature on the Virgin Voyages Sailor App that appears when the phone is shaken.
This will then reveal a secret Virgin Voyages Champagne button which, upon pressing, will put in an order for a bottle of Möet Chandon Impérial. The 750ml bottle of bubbly will then be delivered directly to the passenger (or ‘Sailor’, as Virgin Voyages prefers to say) in an eye-catching Virgin-red champagne bucket.
“There’s nothing more luxurious than having champagne at your beck and call or even a shake,” said Nathan Rosenberg, CMO for Virgin Voyages. “We are committed to creating the world’s most irresistible travel brand, so we thought long and hard about how to help our Sailors effortlessly get a sip of bubbly during their voyage, and presto, Shake for Champagne was conjured up!”
Once they’re sipping their bubbly, Sailors can head to Sip, an ultra-luxurious champagne lounge and caviar bar onboard. Here, they’ll find a full menu of champagne labels available by the glass (starting at US$9) or bottle (some vintages as high as $1,000). In a nod to Virgin’s British heritage, Sip will also offer a signature afternoon high tea.
Sailors can toast to Virgin Voyages’ inaugural season now through Nov. 30, as those who book April or May sailings will receive a complimentary special Virgin Voyages limited-edition bottle of Möet Chandon Impérial in their cabin upon arrival. In addition, those who book now can snag their voyage with half-off their deposit.
