YellowBird Charity Golf Classic raises $40,000 to support children in Caribbean, Latin America

OAKVILLE, ON — The YellowBird Charity Golf Classic recently marked its 15th year as a major fundraising event for The YellowBird Foundation.

Held at Glen Abbey Golf Course earlier this month, the tournament was a fun golf day for members of the travel industry while raising funds in support of children in the Caribbean and Latin America as a way to say ‘thanks’ to those regions for providing memorable vacation experiences for Canadian travellers.

With the strong support of many travel industry partners, including WestJet and WestJet Vacations who once again were the event’s title sponsors, the tournament raised over $40,000 for this worthy cause.

Golfers were personally thanked by the children of The Culloden Infant School in Jamaica through a video presentation from their environmentally friendly school funded through The YellowBird Foundation.

Golf foursome winners included: Rob Iafrate, Brandon Macdonnell, Mike Friend and James Doyle (men); Robert Cole, Andy Ling, Marianne Vogel and Suri Pillai (mixed) and Kim Clarke, Meg Murgatroyd, Robynlee Hyndman and Pam DeHaan (ladies).

Founding sponsors Travel Guard Canada/AIG Travel and Travelweek were represented by David LaFayette and Gerry Kinasz who greeted all golfers upon arrival and ended the day with a heartfelt message of appreciation for another successful year.
