We now live in a world that has pizza ATMs and we are all for it

JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA — So we already have vending machines that spit out short stories, engagement rings and French champagne, but this new invention may be our all-time favourite.

Students at the University of North Florida (UNF) have just debuted Florida’s first pizza ATM, an ingenious contraption that, instead of dollar bills, spews out cheesy, gooey, delicious personal-sized pizzas.

What a time to be alive!

Available to all campus goers and made by Pizza ATM, the machine holds up to 96 frozen pizzas and features an interactive touch screen and a robotic arm that places each order into a convection oven. After approximately three minutes of cooking time, the pizza is then placed in a box and released to the customer who, we’re guessing, is now ready to pull an all-nighter.

Although new to Florida, Pizza ATMs have been around for about 15 years in Europe, and three in the United States. Ohio State University beat out UNF by about a year, debuting its own machine on campus in 2019. And there’s even one in Canada! Toronto’s Pizza Forno on Adelaide Street East debuted an ATM (made by Brampton-based TFI Food Equipment Solutions) in 2018, allowing customers to order cheesy pies from a screen in the wall.

It doesn’t really matter who was the first to have one, so long as we get more ATMs. Let’s hear it for technology!
