Air Transat takes Torontonians to Cuba with panache

[Video] Transat pulls off Cuba stunt on the streets of Toronto

MONTREAL — Late last month, Transat invited Torontonians to experience a taste of Cuba through a stunt.

The event took place in the streets of Toronto where a specially-designed taxi, painted in Transat’s signature blue and driven by an actor posing as a cab driver, put passengers into comical, Cuban-inspired scenarios.

Several shared the taxi with the driver’s friends, others were encouraged to sing and dance, etc.

Those who played along were rewarded with a one-week, all-inclusive vacation package for two to Varadero, Holguin, Cayo Coco or Cayo Santa Maria.

“Canadians love Cuba. It’s an important destination for us,” emphasized Geneviève LeBrun, Senior Director, Marketing, Transat Tours Canada. “This stunt replicated everything we love about the country – the music, the warmth of its people, the sense of fun – all the while echoing our brand promise: Sun for everyone.”

Cameras hidden inside the car captured the reactions of passengers, who were sometimes surprised and often delighted by this unexpected encounter and its incredible effect.

Air Transat offers direct flights from 13 Canadian gateways to eight Cuban destinations during winter.
