Transat eyes July 30 restart, discontinues hotels division

Transat extends suspension of operations through July 29, 2021

MONTREAL — Transat has extended its suspension of operations through to almost the end of July.

A new Travel Advisory update was posted on the company’s site today.

“Due to continued travel restrictions, both in Canada and in the destinations we serve, our operations are temporarily suspended until July 29, 2021, inclusively,” says Transat.

“Clients affected by flight cancellations will receive a notice shortly informing them of their options.”

Back in March, Transat had indicated that it planned to restart operations in mid-June.

At that point Canada’s third wave caseload numbers were rising, but hadn’t hit full momentum yet.

The company’s revised restart date reflects the growing sense that travel, if it’s at all possible this summer, won’t likely restart until at least late July or August.
