Tradewind Voyages to make Mediterranean debut next summer

TORONTO — Tradewind Voyages has confirmed its Mediterranean debut in summer 2022, unveiling the full program and prices for the world’s largest tall ship, Golden Horizon.

Beginning in Palma on May 1, there will be 23 voyages on offer across the region, including in Spain, France, Italy, Albania, Montenegro, Croatia, Slovenia, Greece and Turkey. The inaugural Med season will conclude with the 14-night ‘Canaries to the Caribbean Voyage,’ which arrives in Barbados for the start of winter 2022-2023, yet another debut for the ship.

“After a tumultuous past year for the travel industry, we are thrilled to be back on track and able to confirm an exciting schedule for summer 2022. We thank everyone for their continued support for our start up and cannot wait to host more of you and your clients onboard,” said Alan McGrory, CEO Tradewind Voyages.

Five new collections will be showcased for summer 2022: The Spain & France Collection, The Italian Collection, The Croatian Collection, The Greek Collection, and the Passage to Caribbean Voyages. Prices start at £$1,799 per person for seven- and eight-night itineraries.

When booked by Dec. 15, clients will receive a 10% Early Bird discount.

Golden Horizon’s inaugural sailing in the Mediterranean will be a seven-night roundtrip from Palma, with the Balearic capital becoming the base for three voyages in May 2022. It will then operate roundtrips from Civitavecchia (Rome) from end of May to early July, Split in July until mid-August, and Piraeus from August to October. Golden Horizon will then reposition through Palma and Santa Cruz before heading to the Caribbean.

Summer 2022 voyages include:

  • Riviera Delights: This eight-night voyage runs from May 22-30, 2022 from Palma to Rome and is priced from £2,049 per person. Highlights include visits to Antibes, St. Tropez, Portofino and Florence.
  • Venice and the Wonders of Croatia & Slovenia: This roundtrip to Split departs July 21-31 and takes in the waterways of Dubrovnik, Piran, Venice and Ravenna. Priced from £2,549 per person, it highlights off-the-beaten-track places such as Pula, home of the world’s most complete Roman amphitheatres, and Sibenik, the gateway to two national parks.
  • Greece & Turkey’s Ancient Wonders: From Sept. 2-9 and again on Sept. 23-30, this roundtrip from Athens is priced from £1,799 per person. Highlights include a visit to Kalymnos, renowned for its Greek sponge diving. Golden Horizon is the only ship scheduled to visit this island in 2022.

Golden Horizon carries just 272 guests, which allows it to visit some of the smaller and lesser-known ports in the Mediterranean, including Sanary Sur Mer in France, Calvi in Corsica, Ponza Island in Italy, and Korcula in Croatia. The ship’s design is inspired by France II, a legendary square-rigged tall ship built in 1913. It boasts five bars, spa facilities, three pools, a dining room with central skylight and 140 cabins all with ocean views.
