Goway survey reveals travel advisors ‘confessions’ about life on the job

TORONTO — Goway has taken a candid look at the realities of life as a travel advisor, with more than 1,600 industry professionals across North America sharing their experiences in the company’s inaugural “Confessions of a Travel Advisor” survey.

The survey explores four areas of the profession: travel advisor superpowers, job satisfaction, everyday challenges and the growing role of artificial intelligence (AI).

Rather than focusing on the economic and business side of the industry, Goway’s report examines the personal and practical realities of the job, including the skills advisors rely on and the ways the profession is changing.

Among the findings, staying calm under pressure ranked as the top superpower for handling issues, while 62% of respondents said receiving texts with pictures is their favourite client gesture. The survey also found that 89% of advisors have had clients come to them with their own AI research.

The most underestimated part of the job, according to respondents, is the time required to plan a trip properly.

Goway says the survey captures the quirks, perks and everyday realities of working as a travel advisor, offering a behind-the-scenes look at a profession that can involve strategy, client support and problem-solving.

The full survey report is featured in an article on GowayPro.com  and can also be downloaded here.
