This cat is living large, sailing around the world on a yacht

TORONTO — FOMO (fear of missing out) is a real affliction, especially when you’ve got cats travelling around the world on a luxury yacht.

A Burmese cat named Miss Rigby the Boat Kitty is winning hearts all around the world and across social media for her incredible life as a boat crew member.

Her maritime adventures began in Connecticut, where she was adopted by Maryvonne and Shane La Peyre. The couple had been living on their sailing yacht, Gem, for the previous five years and were on their way from the Caribbean to New York when they suddenly decided to adopt a pet. They found 11-week-old Miss Rigby at a local adoption organization, and chose her among the litter for her confident strut, a trait they believed would serve her well for life on the water.

Since then, the trio has sailed up and down the East Coast of America several times, and crossed to The Bahamas and down into the Caribbean earlier this year. They are currently in Puerto Rico before making their way back to Florida.

Luckily for us, Maryvonne and Shane have created an Instagram account for Miss Rigby to allow cat lovers around the world to follow the feline’s adventures at sea. Here are some of our favourite videos:
