Stuck at home? Take a virtual trip to Puerto Rico this weekend

Friday, March 27, 2020

SAN JUAN — The COVID-19 pandemic is making it impossible to travel right now, but that doesn’t mean you still can’t see the sights from the comfort of your couch.

Discover Puerto Rico, the island’s Destination Marketing Organization, is inviting everyone to experience the destinations rich culture and heritage through the magic of virtual reality. Without leaving their homes, virtual travellers can participate in a salsa lesson, take a cocktail-making class with a world-class bartender, and learn from culinary masters during a cooking demo.

“We take great responsibility in helping stop the spread of COVID-19, so we’re not encouraging travellers to visit us right now as everyone needs to stay safe in their homes,” said Brad Dean, CEO of Discover Puerto Rico. “Instead, we want to extend an important part of our culture – our salsa music and dancing, our mixology and our delicious cuisine – to uplift people during these challenging times. We encourage travellers to daydream about our island now and consider a visit later, when the time is right. In the meantime, we’re excited to join them in their living rooms for this virtual getaway.”
