Scenic Eclipse II leaves shipyard ahead of April debut

VANCOUVER — Scenic Luxury Cruises & Tours’ new ultra-luxury Discovery Yacht is on the move, crossing the Mediterranean Sea ahead of its debut sailing in Lisbon, Portugal.

The highly-anticipated Scenic Eclipse II left the 3.Maj Shipyard in Riijeka, Croatia on April 6 with many special dignitaries in attendance, including Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic, MKM Yachts’ Managing Director Sasa Cokljat and Scenic Group’s Chairman and Founder Glen Moroney.

As a near-identical sister ship to Scenic Eclipse, the Scenic Eclipse II will now make a journey of 2,163 nautical miles that winds around the Italian coast, across the Mediterranean Sea and through the Strait of Gibraltar before arriving in Lisbon. The ship will embark on its debut sailing – an 11-day Iberian Discovery voyage from Lisbon to Barcelona – on April 13, 2023.

An official naming ceremony will be held in Malaga, Spain on June 3, with Godmother Dr. Kathy Sullivan, doing the honours.

With the addition of Scenic Eclipse II, the ultra-luxury cruise operator will be able sail to more than 50 countries across all seven continents in 2023 and 2024.
