Riu Party makes its debut in Jamaica

PALMA DE MALLORCA — It’s always a party at Riu Montego Bay, which has announced the addition of Riu Party events to its All-Inclusive 24h by RIU entertainment program.

Every Friday, guests from the recently refurbished Riu Montego Bay, as well as those staying at the Riu Reggae and Riu Palace Jamaica, can enjoy the Riu Get Together Party featuring national and international DJs and either a white or neon theme.

The first party took place on July 15 in the theatre square, bringing together nearly 2,500 people. The spectacular set design included fluorescent lights, music, dancers, performances and special effects, all included at RIU’s hotels in Montego Bay.

Riu Party events, which made a comeback in May 2022, are also held in other destinations apart from Jamaica. The first Riu Pool Party took place in 2018 in Los Cabos, Mexico and have since expanded to Punta Cana, the Dominican Republic. In addition, Riu Get Together Party events are held at the Riu Guanacaste in Costa Rica, the Riu Tequila and Riu Jalisco in Mexico, and the Riu Republica in the Dominican Republic. Following its debut in Jamaica, Riu Party will soon touch down in Cape Verde at the Riu Funana on the island of Sal, the Riu Karamboa on the island of Boa Vista, and the Riu Dunamar on Costa Mujeres in Mexico.

Following its comeback earlier this year, Riu Party now boasts a new set design, wardrobe and choreography, plus sustainable measures including the elimination of single-use plastics and the use of biodegradable balloons.

The 800-room Riu Montego Bay was refurbished in December 2020 to feature more modern décor and services that can be enjoyed by guests at the three hotels in destination, including Riu Get Together Party and Splash Water World.

RIU Hotels & Resorts celebrated its 20th anniversary in Jamaica in 2021 and is known for being the first Spanish chain to begin operations on the island. It currently has six hotels on the island: three in Montego Bay, one in Ocho Rios and two in Negril, for a total of 3,341 rooms. The new Riu Palace Aquarelle will join the portfolio in 2023 in Falmouth.
