Nexion Travel Group-Canada celebrates 10 years with Nexion Travel Group

LONDON — Host agency Nexion Travel Group-Canada is celebrating its 10th anniversary of becoming part of Nexion Travel Group.

The company officially became part of Nexion Travel Group on Feb. 1, 2013.

Prior to Nexion, the host agency was a branch of another large travel agency and had been in business for 33 years (founded in 1980), serving both independent contractors and travel advisor employees.

Upon being acquired by Nexion, it switched to exclusively serving independent travel advisors.

Nexion Travel Group-Canada is led by Mike Foster. As President, Foster has grown the host agency from a dozen advisors to several hundred of Canada’s top independent travel professionals.

“The past decade as part of Nexion Travel Group has allowed us to grow exponentially,” said Foster. “Having access to Nexion’s comprehensive suite of tools and services has made our value proposition in the Canadian marketplace stronger and given our members new ways of doing business. And of course, as part of our parent company, Internova Travel Group, we can offer our members some of the travel industry’s greatest buying power. It’s been a great 10 years, and we are looking forward to the next decade and more.”

Foster noted that the industry has changed rapidly since Nexion Travel Group-Canada’s original founding.

“The tools have changed, the companies have changed, the industry itself has changed (I come from a time of handwriting tickets), and yet, one thing remains the same: humans do it better when it comes to planning travel,” continued Foster. “The human touch and personal expertise are as valuable today as they were in 1980, or in 2013. Travel advisors continue to thrive because they have proven their value, and Nexion Travel Group-Canada will be there to help them succeed.”

Nexion Travel Group-Canada’s role in supporting its advisors has remained constant throughout the years. It offers an easy solution for advisors, with support that allows the advisor to remain as an independent advocate for their clients, he added.

Krista Tovell joined Nexion Travel Group-Canada as a new advisor in 2016. “When I became a travel advisor, I needed a host that was able to support me and that allowed me to maintain full control of my own business,” she said. “With Nexion Canada, I have the best of both worlds. They also have the perspective and understanding of the Canadian travel advisor, and they can tailor their programs to my needs.”

Nexion Travel Group-Canada’s members are given a range of benefits that are developed with the needs of the Canadian travel advisor in mind. Because they are part of a multi-national company, they can also access Nexion’s services and tools including:

  • Award-winning educational opportunities, both virtual and in-person
