NCL follows FCC commission move with gratuity increase

On the heels of FCC commission move, NCL has a gratuity increase

MIAMI — Norwegian Cruise Line is bumping up its daily service charge effective April 1 and says passengers booking by March 31 will have the option of prepaying the service charges at the current rate prior to their sail date.

The new gratuity rates for all ships have increased from US$13.99 to $14.50 per person per day for any category up to a mini-suite stateroom, and from $16.99 to $17.50 per person per day for any suite or The Haven category.

Meanwhile on Norwegian Sky and Norwegian Sun daily service charges will increase from $18.99 to $19.99 per person per day for inside, ocean view and balcony staterooms, and from $21.99 to $22.99 per person per day for suites.

Guests with existing cruise reservations who have already pre-paid their service charges at the current rate are not affected.

The move comes one day after NCL announced it will pay commission on future cruise credits (FCCs). As reported yesterday at Travelweek.ca, starting June 1, 2018, when NCL guests redeem a future cruise certificate that was issued after June 1, agents will receive a full value of that booking’s commission.
