PUNTA CANA — When sun flights resume this spring from Canada, Canadians will have access to the long-awaited Live Aqua Beach Resort Punta Cana.

Having started operations yesterday, Feb. 1, the all-inclusive, adults-only resort – the first Live Aqua outside of Mexico and operated by Mexico’s leading hotelier, Posadas – is situated on the northern shores of Uvero Alto in the Dominican Republic, just 30 minutes from Punta Cana International Airport. It features lavish accommodations with swim-up and private pools, Zen gardens and a private beach.

“The opening of Live Aqua Beach Resort Punta Cana is an important milestone for Posadas and for our loyal guests who now have a new destination to enjoy the resort’s unique blend of the brand’s top-notch services and experiences with the authentic Caribbean flair of the Dominican Republic,” said Enrique Calderón, Chief Operating Officer of Posadas. “The resort was masterfully designed to enhance its breathtaking setting, incorporating elements that tease the senses such as scents of aromatherapy, sounds of soothing fountains, delectable cuisine, specialty treatments and much more.”

Here’s an overview of the resort:

Live Aqua Beach Resort Punta Cana offers 347 avant-garde-style suites available in eight categories. Suites come with signature Live Aqua brand elements like freestanding Live Aqua Bathtubs, Live Aqua Beds, 400-thread-count cotton bedding, Molton Brown amenities, aromatherapy kits, pillow menus, luxe bathrobes and slippers and more. Among the most exclusive accommodation options are the select Junior Suites with swim-up access from main swimming pools, while others offer complete exclusivity with private pools and terraces.

At the heart of the resort is an expansive linear pool that leads to a private beach. There’s also the Feel Harmony Spa, which offers a variety of treatments and water circuits, as well as a fitness centre featuring high-quality equipment and fitness classes.

Guests have the option to dine at seven restaurants and eight bars. Restaurants serve a range of global cuisines, including Mediterranean, Japanese, Italian, Sports Bar Tapas, French, Cevichería and local Dominican Republic gastronomy. Guests can also enjoy daily lineups of entertainment, including a disco and theatre bar in the evening.

Live Aqua Beach Resort Punta Cana opens with the Travel with Confidence program in place, extensive elevated safety, hygiene, and flexibility protocols that were developed with the ABC Medical Center in Mexico City and uses 3M hospital-grade products.

For guests who require COVID-19 testing prior to their departures, the Ministry of Tourism of the Dominican Republic (MITUR) has extended its free travel assistance program for all visitors arriving in the country by air and staying in a hotel until April 30, 2021. The program includes antigen tests provided by Hospiten, a local hospital network, and provides traveller’s insurance from the moment a guest checks into a hotel to cover all types of medical emergencies, including COVID-19.
