TORONTO — Especially after two years of navigating and surviving the pandemic, the retail travel industry is getting increasingly savvy about promoting travel agent services and the benefits of booking through a travel agency.
A new travel agency, Jet Lag Voyages, is opening its doors in Barrie, ON and owner Ola Ulewicz sent out a press release announcing her agency’s launch and its Grand Opening event planned for April 22. The agency is part of The Travel Agent Next Door.
Ulewicz says that instead of going home-based, as so many have during the pandemic, she is opening a storefront.
“After over a 2-year worldwide travel hiatus, while most travel agencies have closed its bricks-and-mortar storefronts and switched to a remote model, we saw this is an opportunity to open our doors,” she says.
“We believe our community needs a new and inviting space to turn all their travel plans into a reality – and we think we have accomplished that with our incredible space in the heart of Downtown Barrie, ON (which if I do say so myself, turned out beautifully).”
And given the complexity of booking travel these days, “we felt that now more than ever travel advisors are making a huge impact in the planning process.”
Jet Lag Voyages’ grand opening event is scheduled for Friday, April 22 at 11 a.m., with an official ribbon cutting ceremony hosted by the Greater Barrie Chamber of Commerce. An open-house will take place until 6 p.m. The event will continue on Saturday April 23 from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. Jet Lag Voyages is at 13 Dunlop Street W at Barrie’s ‘Five Points’.
Ulewicz says the grand opening will include exclusive promotions, giveaways, snacks and refreshments along with special guests from the travel community.
“Members of the community are invited to celebrate the occasion by meeting their local travel experts and discovering all the ways to explore this extraordinary world,” she adds.
Ulewicz has 10+ years of industry experience, and she says she’s visited 80+ countries. She says Jet Lag Voyages will be a local, full-service boutique travel agency offering everything from flight arrangements to complex custom itineraries worldwide.
