TORONTO — Iran continues to establish itself as a popular destination for Canadian travellers as small group tour operator Intrepid Travel reports the country has experienced double digit growth for a third consecutive year.
Intrepid introduced its first trip to Iran in 2011 answering to the demand for more departures in the Middle East. The operator saw an annual growth over 300% by year two and has reported growth of over 70% already this year.
“Iran has been gaining in popularity across the globe, but has seen particularly strong interest for us in Canada,” says Christian Wolters, Vice President of Sales & Marketing for Intrepid Travel. “It has the history, culture and landscapes to rival any destination, yet it still remains a mystery to many which I think is the real draw.”
The 15-day Iran Adventure tour starts in Tehran and visits nine different cities, towns and villages across the country. Travellers have the opportunity to stay with one of Iran’s 500 nomadic tribes in a communal Homestay and visit ancient desert towns.
The Iran Adventure is one of over 40 trips that Intrepid Travel offers to the Middle East. Other up and coming destinations include Oman, Tunisia and Algeria.
