TURKS & CAICOS — You think they can’t get that bar any higher – and then they go and raise it again.

Sandals Resorts International’s new Treasure Beach Village at Beaches Turks & Caicos is stunning. It’s also now the showpiece for the company’s US$1 billion investment in the Beaches brand. Built at a cost of US$150 million – averaging $1 million per key – Treasure Beach Village is the template for all future Beaches Resorts developments, as SRI’s executive chairman Adam Stewart told Travelweek at the official opening event this past Saturday.
What a party! Film and TV celebrities including Chad Michael Murray, Jesse Eisenberg and several ‘Housewives’ joined the festivities, and there was a live performance by American Authors. A big cheer went up when they hit the stage and launched into their hit ‘Best Day of My Life.’ Fireworks capped the gala evening.
“Everything we do is designed for moments and memories,” said Stewart. He meant the resorts, but the celebration welcoming Treasure Beach Village to Beaches Turks & Caicos offered up plenty of memories too.
JAW-DROPPING VILLAS
From the outside, Treasure Beach Village is a modern, stylish sandcastle, the embodiment of coastal chic with clean lines and muted cream colourways and pops of the Caribbean’s famous blue-greens.
Inside, the new village is all about the 101 multi-bedroom suites across 11 room categories. Treasure Beach Concierge Suites offer two bedrooms and two bathrooms, as lovely and elegant as they are practical, with the second ensuite bathroom in the bunkbed room for the kids. The balconies are so spacious, they function as extra living space.

A tour of of a CrystalSky Four-Bedroom Reserve Villas proved to be a jaw-dropper. Each of the six CrystalSky Four-Bedroom Reserve Villas offers more than 2,600 square feet across three storeys. There’s space for up to 10 guests, plus there’s a dedicated butler, private transfers and more. Orville Morgan, PR Manager at Beaches Turks & Caicos, led the media tour. Without his oversight, some of us might have snuck away to one of several luxurious beds or ensuite tubs – anything for a few extra hours of upscale villa life.

“FROM A VALUE PROPOSITION IT’S UNRIVALLED”
For dining at Treasure Beach Village, there’s the much-loved Butch’s Island Chop House, a first here for a Beaches property. There’s also Brü for craft coffee, and Pinta Food Hall. For breakfast, Pinta serves up a stylish buffet. For lunch and dinner, it’s a multinational a la carte dine around, without having to leave your seat. From one menu, diners can order global dishes from the Caribbean, Mexico, Asia and Italy. International dining isn’t new, but Pinta elevates it. Since Treasure Beach Village’s soft opening in March, Pinta has been an instant hit. Like Butch’s Island Chop House, it offers tables indoors and out.

With resort-wide dine-around privileges guests from any of Beaches Turks & Caicos’ other villages – Caribbean, Italian and French, plus Key West – can head on over to Treasure Beach Village, and vice versa. There are some 20 specialty restaurants across the entire property.
Just like all of SRI’s properties, there’s no separation between Beaches Turks & Caicos’ villages, no tiers for access. “We fundamentally believe that’s not the model,” says Stewart. “We want everyone to interact with everyone. From a value proposition it’s unrivalled.”

IT’S ALL GOING SWIMMINGLY
At the centre of it all, Treasure Beach Village’s aquamarine jewel: a 15,000-square-foot lagoon-style pool, complete with shallow splash pad and children’s waterslide. Even on cloudy days, the pool is the gathering spot.
The swim-up bar is, naturally, the epicentre of activity. Taking a break from a sunny morning swim, adults savoured rum punches while kids ordered up fruit-flavoured snow cones like they were going out of style.
Did they know that Sandals Resorts invented the swim-up bar at Sandals Montego Bay, all the way back in 1981? Probably not. All they know is that they’re having a wonderful time, and that whatever magic SRI has spun with this sophisticated new addition to the portfolio, it works. And that’s all that matters.
