Now open: Westin’s first all-inclusive resort in Mexico

PUERTO VALLARTA — Westin Hotels & Resorts has officially opened its first all-inclusive resort in Mexico with the debut of The Westin Playa Vallarta, an All-Inclusive Resort in Puerto Vallarta.

Located on Banderas Bay, the former Westin Resort & Spa, Puerto Vallarta has undergone a multi-million-dollar transformation that includes redesigned guestrooms and suites, upgraded wellness facilities, expanded culinary offerings and refreshed public spaces.

The opening marks a significant milestone for Marriott International’s all-inclusive expansion in the Caribbean and Latin America region.

“The opening of The Westin Playa Vallarta marks a significant milestone for Marriott International and for the Westin brand in the Caribbean and Latin America. As the first Westin All-Inclusive resort in Mexico, this property represents an evolution of the all-inclusive experience – one that stays true to Westin’s well-being ethos while responding to the growing demand for elevated, experience-driven all-inclusive travel in the region,” said Federico Greppi, President, Caribbean and Latin America (CALA), Marriott International.

The redesigned resort features more than 280 guestrooms and suites, including new adults-only swim-up suites, Sky Pool Suites with private plunge pools and family-focused studio accommodations with kitchenettes and flexible living spaces. The property’s top-tier accommodations include the bi-level Heavenly Penthouse and Presidential Suite, both offering private terraces and panoramic ocean views.

Dining is a central focus of the new resort concept, with 10 culinary and mixology venues centred around the open-air Gourmet Gallery. Highlights include the botanical-inspired Flora Bar, Agave Studio for mezcal tastings, Japanese restaurant Tanto, Caribbean and Latin-inspired Palma and Call Me Lalo Taquería, which pays tribute to Mexican street food culture.

Wellness programming includes sunrise yoga, meditation, paddleboarding, kayaking, Aqua Fit classes and the RunWESTIN route along Marina Vallarta. Guests also have access to the Heavenly Spa by Westin, the WestinWORKOUT Fitness Studio, adults-only and family-friendly pools and new pickleball and padel courts.

The resort also offers cultural programming such as Wixarika and Alebrijes art workshops, outdoor movie nights and live evening entertainment.

For meetings and events, the property features more than 11,800 square feet of renovated indoor-outdoor event space suitable for weddings, celebrations and wellness retreats.

Guests can also explore curated destination experiences in Puerto Vallarta, including tours of La Zona Romántica, known for its cobblestone streets, galleries, restaurants and nightlife.
