Any time a country or region imposes any sort of visa stipulation - even if it’s a waiver - the travel industry sighs a collective groan, knowing the obstacles and headaches to come.
TORONTO — GLP Worldwide is delving into the Wellness market with the launch of its first-ever yoga and fitness tours to Costa Rica and Thailand.
‘Thailand Yoga Wellness Retreat’ and ‘FUNctional Fitness Retreat in Costa Rica’ are set to sail in 2020 as a response to increasing demand for wellness travel.
According to the Global Wellness Institute, says GLP, the global wellness economy is estimated at US$4.2 trillion, with wellness being the fastest-growing tourism segment at $639 billion in 2017. More than 830 million wellness trips were recorded that year, with forecasted growth to top all other tourism segments.
“We are thrilled to introduce these two wellness focused programs for travellers as there is a real void in the marketplace in offering authentic, curated wellness programs,” said Alan Law, GLP Worldwide director of sales and marketing. “GLP is known for its commitment to provide travellers with experiences reflecting local culture, nature, cuisine and now wellness.”
The eight-night Thailand Yoga Wellness Retreat will take place from May 5-13, 2020 and is priced from Can$2,790 per person, double occupancy (single occupancy for $3,250 per person). The five-night FUNctional Fitness Retreat in Costa Rica will depart April 14-19, 2020 and is priced from $1,999 per person, double occupancy (single occupancy for $2,849 per person).
Prices exclude international airfare, any applicable visa expenses, porterage at hotels, meals not mentioned in itinerary, gratuities, optional travel insurance or expenses of a personal nature.
Both programs will take passengers on a specially designed wellness journey and include activities that embrace the local culture, cuisine and scenery of the destination. In Thailand, highlights include visits to sacred temples, the Grand Palace, a Thai cooking class, long boat rides in Bangkok and a visit to an elephant camp, plus an extensive yoga program at Absolute Sanctuary on the island of Ko Samui.
In Costa Rica, guests will enjoy hiking the Las Catalinas Trails, cruising on a catamaran, snorkelling, a beach tour, zip lining, horseback riding and relaxing in hot springs, plus a stay at the Bahia del Sol Beach Front Boutique Hotel in Guanacaste.
