TORONTO — The German National Tourist Office (GNTO) has named Antje Splettstoesser the new Director Marketing & Sales Office Canada.

Splettstoesser joins Carina Schumacher at the GNTO, who holds the position as Manager Public Relations.

Splettstoesser, who obtained a degree in tourism from the University of Bremen, started her career working for various tour operators, managing key accounts, events and trade shows. Splettstoesser gained profound knowledge of incentive, group and FIT travel, cruise ship logistics and special interest tours. Splettstoesser was widely exposed to the bilateral market during her time at the German Canadian Chamber of Industry and Commerce in Toronto, where she managed projects for Messe Düsseldorf.

Prior to her appointment at the German National Tourist Office she was at a market research company, managing large global accounts.

In her new position, Splettstoesser will be responsible for overseeing all marketing and sales activities in the Canadian market. In addition to that, Splettstoesser will be responsible for sales and support for tour operators and travel agencies across Canada.

Schumacher joins the German National Tourist Office overseeing all media relations across Canada. As a graduate of the Free University of Berlin, Schumacher has obtained a B.A. Degree in Media Communication Studies, and minored in North American and Latin American Studies. Schumacher brings hands-on experience in PR and event management, as well as customer service and project management experience.

Her career began with a position in tourism marketing and PR for Grafenstein Ltd in Berlin.
