G Adventures’ growth spurs more departures, 22,000 spaces added on best-selling tours

TORONTO — Year-on-year growth of 21% in the Canadian market (January to March) has resulted in G Adventures adding an additional 22,000 spaces in 2014 and 2015, across 16 of its best-selling tours.

This equates to a 37% increase in capacity across these itineraries.

Robyn James, Marketing Manager, Canada, G Adventures, says adding the new departures will help agents sell more, as there will always be space to meet the demand from their clients.

“Last year we were the first adventure tour operator to introduce 100% guaranteed departures, meaning agents could book customers on a trip regardless of how many travellers were already booked.

“This has been an outstanding success for our agents and travellers, who can book flights and make plans, knowing their trip will depart. Adding these additional departures means there are even more date options for agents to sell if trips are already full,” says James.

South East Asia is a market with huge potential for G Adventures and capacity has been increased by up to 85% on trips including Vietnam, Laos and Thailand on a Shoestring.

Peru, G Adventures’ biggest selling destination from Canada and number one destination globally, sees an increase of 39% on its Inca Trail trips, including its classic The Inca Trail itinerary.

Other countries seeing increases in certain departures are Argentina and Brazil (24%), Kenya (23%) and Costa Rica (13%).

The increases take effect from May 2014 and trips include:

• The Inca Trail – One of G Adventures’ most popular trips for those looking to combine the cultural highlights of the Sacred Valley with the challenge of one of the world’s best-known hikes. Priced from $1,199pp for a seven-day trip from Cusco return.

• Vietnam, Thailand and Laos on a Shoestring – Explore vibrant cities, snorkel colourful reefs, shop in quaint Hoi An, float among the karsts of Halong Bay, discover sleepy Laos, cruise the mighty Mekong River. Priced from $1,899pp for a 22-day trip from Ho Chi Minh City to Bangkok.

• Costa Rica Adventure – Spot wildlife while cruising through the canals of Tortuguero, search for the elusive quetzal bird, hike through the cloud forest, enjoy the beaches of the Pacific and Caribbean coasts and savour a local lunch at a Planeterra and MIF-supported coffee plantation.
