Following record season, Sunwing will extend services from Mont-Joli in 2019

TORONTO — Sunwing has wrapped up its very first flight season from Mont-Joli, reporting record-high results for 2017-2018.

The company flew passengers back home to the lower St. Lawrence region on March 22 following their stay in Cancun and Punta Cana. Following the highly successful season, Sunwing has announced that it plans to extend its services by four weeks in 2019.

“Extending our 2018-2019 winter flight service all the way up to spring reflects our true commitment to help the people of the lower St. Lawrence region travel to popular sun destinations. We couldn’t be more thrilled at the response we got during our inaugural season in Mont-Joli,” said Sam Char, Executive Director of the Sunwing Travel Group in Quebec.

Chantale Lavoie, President of Mont-Joli Airport’s inter-municipal board, added: “We wanted to give the people of eastern Quebec the opportunity to travel south and the response has been overwhelmingly positive. The comments are positive and the people are thrilled to be able to enjoy this new service, so close to home. As members of the board of directors, we couldn’t possibly ask for more. It’s good news for all of us!”

Sunwing’s inaugural flights out of Mont-Joli to Punta Cana launched Dec. 21, 2017, marking the first time Mont-Joli residents had the chance to fly to a sun destination from their local airport.
