TORONTO — Huatulco, Mexico put its best beach forward in Toronto yesterday, hosting its first-ever Canadian trade event for travel advisors.
The Huatulco Hotel Association hosted ‘Huatulco Warm Up Canada 2026’ on Oct. 5 at the Sheraton Toronto Airport Hotel & Conference Centre, bringing together travel advisors and representatives from top Huatulco hotels for destination and hotel updates, networking, lunch and prizes.
Opening the presentation was Jessica García Moro, Manager of the Huatulco Hotel Association, who said the Toronto event marked an important milestone for the organization.
“This is our first event in Canada as a destination, and I think Toronto deserves one special event for Huatulco,” she told advisors.
García Moro highlighted Huatulco’s nine bays and 36 beaches, its location on Mexico’s South Pacific coast, in the state of Oaxaca, and its mix of nature, culture and resort experiences. She also emphasized the destination’s relatively short distances, noting that the airport is about 25 minutes from the Tangolunda area, home to many of Huatulco’s all-inclusive resorts.
For Canadian advisors, air connectivity was a key part of the presentation. García Moro pointed to WestJet’s nonstop Toronto-Huatulco service for the winter season, with service running from Oct. 25 to April 24 on Fridays, with additional Friday and Sunday flights during part of the peak winter period, from Dec. 21 to April 11.
She also highlighted the improved highway connection between Huatulco and Oaxaca City, which has reduced the driving time between the two destinations to about three-and-a-half hours.

SUSTAINABILITY AND EXPERIENCES
García Moro placed a strong emphasis on Huatulco’s natural environment and sustainability initiatives, noting that protected areas encompass several of the destination’s bays and that the community regularly comes together for beach cleanups. She also highlighted Blue Flag-certified beaches and Huatulco’s wellness offering, as well as its inclusive beach at La Entrega, where visitors with mobility challenges can access ramps, accessible facilities and amphibious chairs for entering the water.
“Huatulco is not just sun and beach,” García Moro said, pointing to the destination’s connection with the wider state of Oaxaca, including its culture, gastronomy and the Guelaguetza festival. She also highlighted mezcal, local cuisine, weddings, meetings and group travel as additional selling points.
For longer-stay Canadian visitors, she recommended experiences beyond the beach, including bay tours, waterfalls and excursions into the region’s coffee plantations, where visitors can learn about the coffee-making process and enjoy locally prepared food.
