TORONTO — Small-ship expedition cruise company Heritage Expeditions has named travel industry veteran Meg Murgatroyd to the newly-created role of Sales Director Americas.
Murgatroyd’s arrival aligns with the cruise company’s goal to strengthen its growth strategy and deepen its commitment to the North American market.
The family-owned and operated company recently announced its maiden season aboard the new 130-passenger expedition ship Heritage Discoverer.
Commercial director Aaron Russ noted that Murgatroyd brings 25+ years of leadership across the travel industry, and a reputation for building trusted partnerships, developing successful trade strategies and delivering sustainable commercial growth.
“Meg is one of the most respected sales leaders in the North American expedition travel trade, and we are delighted to welcome her to the Heritage Expeditions family,” said Russ.
“Meg’s appointment represents an important investment in strengthening our relationships with travel advisors and trade partners across the region. Her deep industry relationships, commercial expertise and proven ability to build successful trade partnerships make her the ideal person to lead this next phase of our growth in this market,” he added.
Based in Toronto, Murgatroyd will lead Heritage Expeditions’ sales strategy, travel advisor engagement and trade partnerships across Canada and the U.S.
Murgatroyd described joining Heritage Expeditions as “a return to my expedition cruising roots. Returning to expedition cruising feels like coming home.”
“What drew me to Heritage Expeditions is it has never lost sight of what authentic expedition travel is all about. Built by conservationists, biologists and adventurers, the company has spent more than 40 years inspiring travellers to experience some of the world’s wildest places with purpose and authenticity,” she said.
“With the arrival of Heritage Discoverer and an expanding global programme, there has never been a more exciting time to introduce new North American travellers and trade partners to Heritage Expeditions. I’m looking forward to working alongside our trade partners to create new opportunities together, and to inspire more travellers to experience expedition cruising at its very best.”
