Another Margaritaville on the way, on Florida’s Emerald Coast

PANAMA CITY BEACH — Margaritaville Holdings is ramping up its expansion plans with news of a new resort in Florida’s Panama City Beach.

The company announced that it has entered into a partnership with Premier Development Group to develop a new destination resort on Florida’s Emerald Coast.

Spread over 13 acres in Panama City Beach, the new Margaritaville Beach Resort will feature a full-service hotel, amenity park, function space, several signature Margaritaville food and beverage concepts, retail and more.

The resort is expected to begin a phased opening in spring 2021.

“Panama City Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in the world and we are excited to share this news and help bring positive energy back to the destination. We are hopeful that this will help boost the area’s revitalization efforts,” said Jason Alley, Chief Financial Officer of Premier Development Group.

Panama City was hit hard by Hurricane Michael last month, with extensive damage to homes, businesses and the beaches.

Both Margaritaville and Premier Development Group have been actively involved in relief efforts following Hurricane Michael’s devastating impact to the area. They have assisted with setting up drop off locations for supplies, finding temporary housing for those that were displaced, clearing roads right after the storm, tarping roofs and delivering supplies such as food, water, generators, gas and clothing.

With an eye to the future, the companies are forging ahead with plans for the new resort, where the centerpiece will be a two-acre amenity park featuring multiple pools, private cabanas, lazy river, water slides and a kid’s splash play area. The property will also feature several function spaces equipped to accommodate social and corporate groups.

“The Florida panhandle is near and dear to our hearts, and this resort is a natural progression of our presence in the region,” said Margaritaville CEO John Cohlan, who added that additional details and timing for the development will be announced in the coming months.

Margaritaville Holdings has made a raft of new resort announcements over the past year or so. Margaritaville Beach Resort Grand Cayman opened in February 2017.

Just announced this week, Margarita Resort Orlando, which broke ground in July 2017, is now taking reservations and is expected to open in January 2019.

Two more properties, in Nassau and New York City, are on the way.

And in February 2017 Karisma Hotels & Resorts and Margaritaville announced a partnership to develop a collection of new all-inclusive Margaritaville resorts.
