TORONTO — WestJet has reportedly suspended service on one of its scheduled sun routes for winter 2026-2027.

According to aviation consulting firm Ailevon Pacific, WestJet has suspended service between Calgary and Guadalajara, Mexico effective Oct. 19, 2026 through April 24, 2027.

Last week WestJet confirmed a number of route suspensions for its U.S. network. Canadian carriers have been cutting back transborder capacity for more than a year amid weaker demand from Canada. While year-over-year Canada-to-U.S. are improving slightly (up 3.2% in June 2026 vs. June 2025, as reported yesterday), they’re still down significantly compared to pre-‘Elbows Up’.

The U.S. routes suspended from WestJet’s future schedules include: Ft. Lauderdale, Kauai and Orlando from Vancouver; Las Vegas flights from Toronto, Regina and Saskatoon; Edmonton-Abbotsford and Toronto-Kelowna. There are also reports that WestJet has suspended the following flights from late October 2026 through late April or May 2027: Vancouver-Atlanta; Vancouver-Los Angeles; Calgary-Chicago O’Hare; and Edmonton-Ottawa.
