Pearson Airport warns travellers, trade of inaccurate flight info on several sites

TORONTO — Toronto Pearson International Airport is sounding the alarm on several sites posting what it calls false articles about flight cancellations and delays, sometimes with up to 100 articles per day, raising suspicions of AI-generated, bot-written content.

Pearson Airport spokesperson Sean Davidson said the sites are putting a lot of misinformation at the hands of travellers and the industry. “In the last few months we’ve seen this really ramp up,” he told CityNews.

The articles typically have clickbait headlines warning of long lists of delays, cancellations and airport and airline chaos. Airports worldwide are targets, not just Pearson.

Sites on Pearson’s warning list include…

  • TheTraveler.org
  • Toronto Digest
  • Travel and Tour World
  • NomadLawyer
  • Travel Tourister

Davidson said Pearson Airport has reached out to the sites asking them to take down inaccurate information.
