Air Transat signs interline agreement with Iberia

MONTREAL — Air Transat is strengthening its presence in Spain through a new interline partnership with Iberia that will give Canadian travellers access to more than 20 additional destinations across the country via Madrid.

The agreement allows Air Transat passengers to connect through Madrid to destinations including Palma de Mallorca, Ibiza, Tenerife and Alicante, expanding the airline’s reach in one of its most important international markets.

“We are proud to be the airline offering the widest range of Spanish destinations from Canada,” said Sebastian Ponce, Chief Revenue Officer at Transat. “This new partnership with Iberia builds on that leadership by giving our customers seamless access, via Madrid, to even more destinations across Spain. It strengthens our position in the market while offering travellers greater flexibility, convenience and confidence throughout their journey.”

The partnership comes as Air Transat continues to grow its Spanish network. The airline currently serves five destinations in Spain, including four year-round routes to Madrid, Barcelona, Málaga and Valencia. It recently added Las Palmas de Gran Canaria to its winter schedule, further expanding options for Canadians seeking European sun destinations.

Iberia says the agreement will make it easier for travellers to access destinations throughout Spain under a single itinerary.

“It make it easier for Air Transat customers to connect, via Madrid-Barajas, with Iberia-operated destinations across Spain under a single itinerary and it coincides with the launch of Iberia’s new Toronto-Madrid route on June 13,” said Celia Muñoz Espín, Iberia’s Commercial Strategy, Distribution & Alliances Director. “Iberia is currently exploring collaboration opportunities in Toronto to further strengthen domestic connectivity within Canada and enhance the overall customer proposition”.

Passengers travelling under the interline agreement will benefit from a single booking itinerary, through-checked baggage to their final destination and added protection in the event of schedule disruptions.

Flights are now available for booking.
