Nexion advances tech strategy; long-time president Friedman prepares for next chapter

Nexion Travel Group is rolling out the next generation of its technology platform, with a rebuilt myNexion and the launch of OurNeighborhood, both designed to create a more connected experience for travel advisors.

The company says the goal is not to add more technology, but to make the tools, information and resources advisors already use work better together.

“Technology should remove work from an advisor’s day, not add to it,” said Laura Bjorne, VP, Business Operations, Nexion Travel Group. “We’re building around the advisor, making it easier to see what needs attention, find information and connect Nexion members with the tools they choose to run their businesses.”

Long the operational hub for Nexion members, myNexion has been rebuilt on a new technology foundation aimed at improving speed and ease of use while supporting deeper integrations, automation and AI capabilities over time.

The new platform will bring key business information and actions to the forefront, including financial reminders, priority tasks and progress toward Nexion’s Excellence recognition levels.

Nexion is also working to better connect myNexion with technology advisors already use. Integrations with Tern and Travefy are part of the strategy, with additional CRM platforms under consideration.

Rather than prescribing a single technology platform, Nexion says advisors will continue to have the freedom to choose the tools that best suit their businesses.

The new myNexion will launch in the U.S. in November 2026, followed by Canada in early 2027.

Meanwhile, OurNeighborhood is designed to make Nexion’s information, resources and community easier to navigate. The digital hub will bring together Nexion news, partner information and promotions, education, events, marketing resources and community content.

AI-powered search will allow members to ask questions naturally and surface relevant information from across the platform without needing to know where it is stored.

Together, myNexion and OurNeighborhood are intended to move Nexion toward a more connected member experience built around the advisor.

“Independent doesn’t have to mean doing everything independently,” said Jackie Friedman, VTA, CTIE, President, Nexion Travel Group. “Our role is to put the technology, resources and community behind our members while giving them the freedom to build a business that is distinctly their own.”

FRIEDMAN ANNOUNCES RETIREMENT

Friedman made headlines of her own earlier this month, when she announced her pending retirement in spring 2027.

Friedman announced her decision during Nexion Travel Group’s annual CoNexion conference in Austin, TX. She will continue to lead the company until her official retirement date.

Nexion Travel Group says Friedman’s successor will be announced at a later date.

“It has been an incredible honour to help Nexion become the best host agency in the travel industry,” Friedman said. “In my 22 years with Nexion, we have created a home for some of the industry’s most talented independent travel advisors, supporting members with different business sizes, specialties and goals. Together with our preferred partners, we have given our members the tools, relationships and support they need to build something lasting.”

Friedman joined Nexion in 2004 as VP of Operations and was promoted to President in 2007. Before joining Nexion, she spent 15 years with Sabre in a variety of sales and leadership roles. She began her career as a front-line travel agent and travel agency manager in Toronto.
