Over 11,000 virtual appointments at Ireland’s annual tourism fair

TORONTO — Tourism Ireland’s Virtual Meitheal & Meet the Buyer event is well underway, with Ireland’s top tourism operators meeting with overseas buyers from over 18 countries, including Canada.

The annual travel trade fair, in virtual format for the second consecutive year, provides a platform for Irish trade partners and new contacts to create new business opportunities. From April 13-15 and April 20-22, the virtual Meitheal workshop (three days) and Meet The Buyer workshop (three days) will facilitate over 11,000 scheduled appointments.

Hosted by Tourism Ireland, in partnership with sister agencies Failte Ireland and Tourism Northern Ireland, these events are considered a key component of the destination’s recovery plans as they showcase the destination’s most compelling and attractive experiences.

“For a second year in a row, Meitheal and Meet the Buyer are taking on a virtual capacity and these events offer a key opportunity to continue to connect with the travel trade to highlight the many incredible experiences the island of Ireland has to offer,” said Sandra Moffatt, Tourism Ireland’s Manager, Canada. “Our connections with Irish industry suppliers and Canadian tour operators continue to be of the utmost importance to us, and these events ensure we are able to offer the very best experiences to their clients when the time is right to travel again.”

In 2019, Ireland welcomed nearly 11.3 million overseas visitors, delivering revenue of over €5.8 billion. For more information on travel to Ireland go to www.ireland.com.
