CAP CANA, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC — The highly anticipated Margaritaville Island Reserve by Karisma Cap Cana has broken ground in the Dominican Republic ahead of its 2021 grand opening.

The all-inclusive, US$150 million development marks the introduction of Margaritaville to the D.R., expanding Karisma’s presence in the region and creating 1,100 jobs on the island. The groundbreaking, which took place on Oct. 29 in the gated community of Cap Cana, was attended by Rafael Feliz, Chairman of Karisma Hotels & Resorts, John Cohlan, CEO of Margaritaville, and Danilo Medina Sánchez, President of the Dominican Republic.

Upon opening on Juanillo Beach, the new-build Margaritaville Island Reserve by Karisma Cap Cana will feature 228 rooms and suites, seven restaurants, three bars, three pools, the Parakeets Kid’s Club for children 4-12 years old, and the St. Somewhere Spa, by Karisma. Upon arrival, guests will also be presented with flip-flops and welcome drinks upon arrival.

Moreover, exclusive to the resort will be a team of Island Ambassadors, considered a concierge, vacation-planner and a “catalyst for fun” all rolled into one. These Ambassadors will be on call to answer questions, take requests and cater to guests’ needs.

Margaritaville Island Reserve by Karisma Cap Cana will be the fourth property in the Island Reserve collection, representing the milestone partnership between Karisma and Margaritaville. The new inclusive resort will follow confirmed Island Reserve properties in Mexico’s Riviera Cancun and Riviera Maya, and Jamaica – all opening in 2020 – among other destinations in Latin America and the Caribbean.
