Placido Calore, Blue Mountain Travel charged under Travel Act

TORONTO — Placido Calore and 407488 Ontario Ltd. o/a Business & Vacation Travel Planners and Blue Mountain Travel (Blue Mountain Travel) were each charged with:

1. One count of carrying on business with Carolyn Solomon and 1924067 Ontario Inc., who were required to be registered as travel agents but were not in fact so registered, contrary to Section 20 of Ontario Regulation 26/05 made under the Travel Industry Act, 2002 (the Regulation);

2. One count of failing to notify the Registrar, five days in advance of closing of its trust account, contrary to section 17(2) of the Regulation;

3. 25 counts of failing to deposit customer payments received for travel services into the trust account of the Registrant, contrary to section 27(3) of the Regulation.

Placido Calore was a director and shareholder of Blue Mountain Travel, which voluntarily terminated its registration effective July 31, 2015. Blue Mountain Travel operated in Toronto and elsewhere in Ontario.

The first court appearance is scheduled for Jan. 14, 2016 at 9 a.m. at the Ontario Court of Justice, Provincial Offences Court, located at 70 Centre Ave., Toronto.
