Air India’s new 3x weekly nonstop Toronto-Mumbai flights take off

TORONTO — This past weekend saw the launch of Air India’s new nonstop service between Toronto and Mumbai, adding nearly 2,000 weekly seats between Canada and India and bringing upgraded cabins to the new route.

The inaugural flight, AI192, departed Toronto Pearson at 12:30 p.m. on Oct. 25, with arrival in Mumbai at 2:10 p.m. local time today, Oct. 26.

The launch was marked by government officials, including Mahaveer Singhvi, Consul General of India in Toronto, along with representatives from Air India, Toronto Pearson and the travel trade.

For travel advisors, the new service provides a direct connection to India’s financial capital, along with onward connections through Air India’s domestic and international network.

According to OAG Traffic Analyzer data cited by Air India, approximately 128,000 round-trip passengers travelled between Toronto and Mumbai between June 2025 and May 2026.

UPGRADED CABINS AND MORE PREMIUM SEATS

Air India is operating the new route with B777-300ER aircraft featuring eight First Class suites with privacy doors, 40 fully flat Business Class beds and 280 Economy Class seats. WiFi is also available onboard.

The launch follows the recent introduction of Air India’s new Boeing 787-9 aircraft on its daily Toronto-Delhi service, which brings Premium Economy to the route for the first time.

Together, the aircraft upgrades will increase Air India’s premium seat capacity between Toronto and India by 71% this winter. From January 2027, all Air India flights departing Toronto Pearson will feature new or significantly upgraded cabin interiors.

“Canada has long been a cornerstone of Air India’s international network and remains one of our largest overseas markets,” said Nipun Aggarwal, Chief Commercial Officer, Air India. “As we transform Air India, it is only fitting that our guests from Canada are among the first to experience many of the improvements we are making across our airline.”

With the addition of Mumbai, Air India will operate 20 weekly flights between Canada and India during the Northern Winter 2026-27 season, serving Toronto-Mumbai, Toronto-Delhi and Vancouver-Delhi.
