TORONTO — ACTA is bringing Canada’s travel industry together for a milestone celebration in 2027, marking its 50th anniversary with a national summit and events across the country.
The Association of Canadian Travel Agencies and Travel Advisors (ACTA) will host its National Summit on Sept. 9, 2027, at the Toronto Congress Centre, combining its traditionally separate regional summits in Toronto, Montréal and Vancouver into one major event.
“For 50 years, ACTA has proudly represented Canada’s travel agencies and travel advisors, championing their interests and strengthening our industry,” said Suzanne Acton-Gervais, President of ACTA. “Our 50th anniversary is an opportunity to celebrate our collective achievements, recognize the people and partnerships that have brought us here, and look ahead to the next 50 years.”
Registration for the Sept. 9 National Summit will be complimentary for all ACTA members. The association is also working with airline and hotel partners to explore preferred rates for flights and accommodations, helping make attendance more affordable for members travelling from across Canada.
ACTA is exploring technology-enabled interpretation and translation solutions to support participation in both official languages, with a commitment to incorporating bilingual content into the summit programme.
“We want to make our 50th anniversary an exceptional celebration of our industry and the people who make it so successful,” said Acton-Gervais. “Bringing our members and industry partners together from across Canada and beyond will make this a truly memorable occasion.”
CROSS-CANADA EVENTS
Throughout 2027, ACTA plans to host regional round tables across Canada, bringing together travel agencies, travel advisors, suppliers and industry partners. The business-to-business events will focus on building relationships, strengthening connections, exploring opportunities and fostering collaboration across the industry.
A special 50th Anniversary Gala is also planned for Montréal in support of ACTA’s advocacy initiatives. The event will recognize the contributions of Canada’s travel trade and support the association’s ongoing work on behalf of travel agencies and travel advisors. Further details, including the date, venue and programme, will be announced in the coming months.
The anniversary year will also feature international immersive educational experiences, continuing ACTA’s focus on professional development, destination expertise and relationships with international tourism partners. Destinations and programme details will be announced as plans are finalized.
BUILDING ON 2026 SUMMIT SUCCESS
ACTA’s 2026 regional summits in Toronto, Montréal and Vancouver welcomed more than 1,200 travel advisors, agency leaders, suppliers and industry partners, providing momentum for the anniversary year.
“ACTA’s 50th anniversary is about more than celebrating our history. It is about recognizing the strength of our industry, celebrating the people who make it extraordinary and looking ahead to an exciting future together,” concluded Acton-Gervais. “We invite our members and industry partners from across Canada to be part of this milestone celebration, to connect, be inspired, leave energized and help shape the next 50 years of our industry.”
