TORONTO — Canada’s biggest airlines are making route adjustments amid changing travel demand patterns.
According to aviation consulting firm Ailevon Pacific, Air Canada’s Montreal-Guadalajara service reportedly won’t be back in June 2027. Travelweek has reached out to Air Canada for confirmation. Air Canada launched the YUL-GDL route this year on June 2.
Air Canada has also added 1x weekly service from Toronto to Guatemala City (GUA) starting in December 2026.
In other news, Air Transat reportedly won’t be offering Quebec City – Martinique (FDF) from September through Oct. 30.
Meanwhile WestJet has reportedly suspended nine routes including several U.S. and sun routes at varying times in October, through December 2026: YHM-CUN, YWG-FLL, YEG-HNL, YVR-KOA, YLW-PHX, YHZ-POP, YQB-PVR and YBG, and YUL-PVR.
WestJet has also updated its schedule for Nashville (BNA) service from Calgary and Toronto, suspending those flights from March through mid-April, and adjusted schedules for Halifax-Montego Bay (suspended January through Feb. 14) and Deer Lake to Gander (suspended October through March 16).
WestJet said last month that it continually evaluates its network to ensure it is deploying aircraft where there is strongest demand and long-term sustainability. All of Canada’s airlines have been making adjustments to transborder routes for more than a year now amid ‘Elbows Up’.
